I’m going to go out on a limb here. People are getting burned out, and companies seem to have two solutions for it: letting the employee quit, or firing them. As of right now, the latter is the preferred method in the form of layoffs. Does anyone think this is the right way? Employee burnout is a growing challenge, and companies need to transform their work culture. This can be achieved with a dedicated Employee Experience and Work Culture Manager.

 

I worked for a large company that had a revolving door for entry-level consultants. After a few months of working 50+ hours, they would either quit or get fired. Hardly ever did those consultants reach out to senior management and let them know about their insane workload and the exhaustive pace they had to maintain just to keep their job. In other words, the company and leaders were in the dark about their work environment.

To be honest, big companies are slow-moving ships when it transforms work culture;  however, this is changing thanks to more Employee Experience type roles emerging. To be clear, these roles are evolving, and the responsibilities are changing depending on the size of the organization. But overall, an employee experience and work culture person plays a critical role in cultivating a positive and engaging workplace, which ultimately contributes to the success and growth of the organization.
